| 2. "Evoke" at the Singapore Science Center SINGAPORE December 1-9, 2007 |
||||
| In December, as part of the Singapore Science Center's 30th Anniversary Celebrations, the Science Center, in association with Esme Jesudason of Maxman Management International, presented 18 performances of my cutting edge juggling variety show "Evoke". This was an ambitious project which involved re-building many of the Evoke props upon arrival in Singapore. On top of this already difficult challenge, the airlines lost my main touring case for an entire week, requiring us to rebuild and replace even more equipment in order to get the show up and running on schedule. |

| 3. Kimtom International Clown Festival Shanghai, CHINA October 1-28, 2007 |
||||
| 2007 was a busy year for China. I worked two international clown festivals, one in Shanghai and one in Liuzhou. In between, I returned to China for an international comedy festival produced in Beijing. In Shanghai, the Kimtom International Clown Festival featured over 80 clowns, balloon artists, face painters, stilt-walkers, and street performers in Century Park, the Shanghai Performing Arts Center, and other venues around the city as part of Shanghai's International Festival of the Arts. Kimtom was produced by Tomfoolery Entertainment, Pearlesque Productions, and Cornerstone Productions International. An interesting side-project emerged: Chaplin Returns to Shanghai began as a simple trip across town to visit a Chaplin memorial with one of the strolling acts, Lauren Muney. Using my improvisational camera skills to capture spontaneous interactions, the journey turned into a 17 minute video short. The archives on the right (posted for festival participants) contain over 9 hours of footage featuring many stage and street shows. Here is a link to over 1500 still photos of the festival in Shanghai taken by one of the artists, Michael Lane Trautman. | 4. International Varieté Festival Schwebheim, Germany May, 2006 |
||||
| My good friend and varieté producer, Dirk Denzer, has produced amazing varieté productions in Germany for years. He has produced an international variety festival near his home in Schwebheim, Germany on two occasions in 2004 and 2006. The next major festival will take place in the Spring of 2009. At these amazing festivals, a 1500 seat theater-tent is brought in from Italy with state of the art lighting and sound equipment and the performances, featuring the best variety performers from around the world, are completely sold-out. At right are several clips from the festival which feature my work editing multiple camera angles in Final Cut Pro. |

| 5. CCTV International Humour Festival Beijing, CHINA June, 2007 |
||||
| In June of 2007, I flew back over the North Pole to Beijing, China to appear in an episode of CCTV's International Humour Festival which was broadcast to hundreds of millions of viewers across China. There are many challenges in doing business in China. Copyright is not recognized in their communist system so there is virtually no consideration for intellectual property rights. I was free to bring my camcorder into the television studio and record large portions of their programming without even raising an eyebrow. |

| 6. Celebration Barn Theater South Paris, MAINE (USA) August, 2007 |
||||
| There's always something inspiring going on at the Celebration Barn in South Paris, Maine during the summer workshop season. The Barn, founded by the late master mime, teacher, and director Tony Montanaro, has a long tradition of showcasing amazing new original theater. The Barn is located only 15 minutes from my studio up in rural Maine and the Barn. I've archived many student shows and Saturday evening performances at the Barn over the years. In 2007, the Barn hosted a 'Big Barn Show' bringing back many professional alumni performers of Celebration. The Barn is also a good client. I maintain the Barn's website and have designed their workshop brochure the past two years. |

| 7. Cirque du Soleil's SOLSTROM Montreal, Quebec (CANADA) 2003 |
||||
| In 2003, Cirque du Soleil produced a series for the Bravo Channel called 'Solstrom' which featured not only many acts from their touring shows, but also many specialty acts they wanted to work in to the creative Cirque style. I was brought in to perform three different acts. They used 'Illusions' in its entirety. Here is an excerpt from episode #13. The entire series is available on a 5 DVD set through Amazon.com for $40 USD. ![]() |

| Founded in 1998 by Mike and Kim Miclon, The Oddfellow Theater brings the best in live family entertainment to Buckfield, Maine. The Theater is a creative hub showcasing the work of many great performers either living in Maine or passing through the area. | Randy Judkins - Character Juggling - 5:30 (32.3 megs) (Camerawork Michael Menes) Randy Judkins juggles with character at the Oddfellow Theater during a solo performance in 1999. www.randyjudkins.com |

| 9. Promotional Edits |
||||
| Over the years, I have made many promotional edits for performers beginning way back in the early 90's using A/B roll systems and then struggling with the early transition over to non-linear editing with slow processors, unstable operating systems, and hard drives that had to be perfectly 'tweaked' or else they would crash and lose days of work. Thankfully, technology is SO much better now. | Cirque Voila! 2009 Promo Clip - 3:15 (20.2 megs) (Edited & Partially Shot by Michael Menes) A promotional edit I put together for Cirque Voila! produced by Tomfoolery Entertainment. This features animated text I created in LiveType. www.cirquevoila.com |

| 10. "Fragile" (Early Images of Liyana Menes) | ||||
| There is definitely a world out there beyond the variety arts! Here is a real tear-jerker I made for Christmas one year for my family featuring my beautiful daughter Liyana. The footage is from when she was between the ages of one and three. Liyana is "eurasian". Her mother is from Singapore. |

| 11. "Dance of Time" Studio Edit 2009 | ||||
| I first performed this piece in 1990 at the Philadelphia Jugglers Convention. Two years later I took it to Barcelona for the Summer Olympic Games (The International Arts Festival) in a show with many great variety artists including Natalie and Francis Brunn. After the swinging clubs I used eventually gave out and cracked from the percussion, they were discontinued by the prop builder. I retired the piece... Almost two decades later friends urged me to bring the number back... Finally, just this year, I discovered Brian Dubé had begun making a very similar club for illuminated swinging. Here is a studio edit of the number... "The Dance of Time". For those wondering, the music is a very rare recording of "Pieces of Eight" by Neil Peart, the extraordinary drummer from the Canadian rock band RUSH. It was only published on a thin flexible plastic sheet (turntable technology) inside an issue of Modern Drummer Magazine back in the 1970's. |
