Camerawork by Michael Menes

I've long been fascinated with capturing, editing, and archiving interactive performers and over the past two decades, this began out of a frustration that I shared with many of my colleagues: how to capture the work we do on video in the confines of a low-budget. There was a constant need for quality footage for marketing, reference, and to reach a wider audience. Over the years, cameras, computers, and hard drives got better and cheaper. I developed my own style of following live action, usually with a single camera, much as one's eye would naturally want to focus on a live situation always looking for the most dynamic and interesting of shots.

What is needed to view the work?

The hosting service I chose provides 1.5 terabytes of storage capacity (1,500 gigabytes) and a bandwidth of 500 gigabytes per day. The website can store approximately 300 hours of compressed footage (320 x 240 pixel mpg 4).

Generally, a high speed internet connection is necessary to stream video from this server and it is recommended that users be sure to have the latest version of Apple's Quicktime plug-in installed or a Windows system which can stream .mp4 content. Some files are for public viewing while others require a user-password to view and download. To obtain a user-password, send an email to michael@zigzago.tv. I need to know who you are and your association with the footage (artist, producer, etc.)

Can the files be posted elsewhere?

Please note that materials on ZIGZAGO.TV are
protected under international copyright law and should not be posted on other websites without appropriate permissions. Links for downloading high resolution files, if available (.iso, .img or .dv files), are only given to those authorized for receiving high resolution files and the files will be removed from the server following their delivery. (see orders) Please respect these links and the footage and do not re-post or re-use footage (whole or in part) on other internet sites or elsewhere without permission of the parties involved (the artists, producers, myself, etc.). The exception to this (of course) is if you are the performer on the footage in question. In this case you are free to use the footage or post it as you wish on other internet sites and are responsible for any extraneous copyright issues involved (such as music rights, etc.). Please include a link to ZIGZAGO.TV and credit on the videography to Michael Menes where appropriate.

What if I have an objection to my work being included in these archives?

Anyone who has objections to their work being included on ZIGZAGO.TV can send an email to: michael@zigzago.tv and the material in question will no longer be featured on line.

Where is the footage?

Here is the link to the first of the archival footage I am posting: ARCHIVES (also selectable on the main navigation bar on the top of the site).

Is Michael available to capture and edit events?

Yes. On a limited basis I am available for capturing, editing, and processing media. Please send an email enquiry for rates and availability.

Thank you for visiting ZIGZAGO.TV and I welcome your feedback!
